My LHBS had Simcoe the other day, Citra was out though and I bought the last of their athanum. Also got a new German hop called Smaragd; 4.4 % Alpha, 5.9% Beta, flavor description sayspredominantly fruity with flowery overtones. Recommended for ales, alts and Kolsch, a Kolsch with it could be nice for summer.

I found some Citra not long ago, along with some Amarillo, but I still don't have any Simcoe. I'll find some eventually. Even if I have to trade for them, which might be the best chance.

just ordered 3 oz of Simcoe from Midwest for $2 an ounce, and the 1028, and some Munich malt since MtnBrewer called me out for not having any in stock :crybaby:

Oh, and this is an interesting description of Simcoe. One I've never heard...

Has a unique mahogany/walnut wood aroma, with some resinous/candy-like and citrus character.

That's a much nicer way to say "cat pee".

I haven't brewed in over a month now. I'm jonesing like a crack addict. My ferm chamber is under repair and I couldn't get much done last weekend because I got sick. I may have to brew something like a wheat beer to get me over this that I can just throw in the closet. Cheers,Rich

I'm stoked to transfer my latest brew, an IPA, this weekend. Then, I'll brew another. I'm limited by the lack of equipment, but can get one more in. I'm excited about this current beer fermenting, cause I built the water from scratch and think I finally have the correct profile for the beer I'm brewing. It'll be great to see how it turns out. I also did first wort hopping, which I've never done, and also used a yeast I've never tried; Denny's Favorite, Wyeast 1450. I have high hopes for this one! Can't wait to taste it!
