I thought so too but my issue is whether to call beers with 2112 a lager or an ale.  I realize it's called "West Coast Lager" but I generally don't think of it as a true lager yeast.  Anchor gets away with it by calling their beer "Anchor Steam Beer".  This beer will end up tasting like an ale with all of that Amarillo and Citra in the whirlpool so I'm leaning towards "ale".  Maybe I'll make a Frozen Hose tap handle.  :P  Cheers Beerheads.

Looks like my Saturday morning just opened up as my wife is taking the kids somewhere.  May try and sneak in a 5th January batch.  Now ... what to brew!

Do you have any active yeast slurry at the moment?  Ale or lager?

I have a brown ale that is on 1318 that will go to a keg to spund tonight or Friday.  At this point I am thinking of using that for an oatmeal stout.

Oh yeah, 1318 has all kinds of possibilities.  English Pale Ale, ESB, Brown Ale (oh, you already made that), an English Mild, a Scottish ale, stout, etc.  What kind of English hops do you have?

You are a man among men.  You're also a hop hoarder.  I can see it on Discovery Channel now... This week on Hop Hoarders... We travel to the great state of Massachusetts where homebrewer Drez is the focus of tonight's unfortunate story...

Conical is in. I'm feeling kind of cruddy. I'm hoping I can keg the stout and brew the dunkel and IPA for my camping trip in 4 weeks. Cutting it short, here!

So I can't brew a lager at the same time that I do the IPA for my camping trip, the ferm temp profiles aren't compatible. So I need to make a beer that will ferment along side the IPA. I'll probably use 1056 for the IPA. So I've narrowed it down to 2 beers... Ken's MLPA or a red kinda pale ale. I haven't made MLPA in years, it's simple I know the recipe well and I know it will go over well at the camping trip, but part of me wants to try something new. I can't decide what to do. I need to go get ingredients to brew tomorrow. AAARG can't decide!

Make a lager! Use 34/70 because it is very forgiving for temps. Fantastic yeast and will work. This is from experience. Or read Brulosophy :)

I've read that one and I'm not willing to try an experiment right now. I decided on MLPA. I haven't made it in a long time so it will be nice to try it again. Only change I made to Ken's recipe is using Crisp C-60 rather than Briess C-60. It's a little tamer on the caramel.

The stout is kegged. The big mouth bubbler is clean. The conical is clean. The starter is going. Double brew day tomorrow.

I'm definitely brewing tomorrow. Grains cracked, HLT filled and timer set. Just need to wake up and mash in.
