As stated. a slurry of 34/70 is now lounging in a wakeup starter on the stirplate for next week's brewday.
A clone of GLBC Dortmunder Gold is on deck.

Been doing a lot of research on medieval brewing. This is the first time making it and the first time using bog myrtle. We'll see how it turns out.
There is no document-able recipe for heather ale from that time period. So I just kinda cobbled something together from modern ones using period ingredients where I could.

I really hope you post the recipe and your impression of the brew.

For the first time I used something called Swaen Gold Hell. I assumed it was like CaraHell although it was 10°L. I used 4 ounces in this recipe which came to 2.8% but WOW did it add a deep golden color to the wort. I was really surprised but the wort looked beautiful. Brewday was smnooth, started around noon, all cleaned up by 4pm or so.

Tomorrow! Got a starter of 1762 going. Going to make a BDSA with 99% Mecca Grade Lamonta (kinda like their version of Munich) and 1% Special B, along with 2 lb. of D240 candi syrup. Bitter with about 25 IBU of Magnum.

Great Lakes Brewing Co.
Fellas, I wish I could find this beer down here to try. Been thinking about it and would love to see a recipe if you wouldn't mind. I'd like to try a version with my 4th use of the Bayern. Great Lakes explanation of this beer sounds real nice and simple.

It's a nice beer. I think a beer purist would say that it's not a dortmunder just based on some of the ingredients including crystal malt and some hops that are probably not suitable. That said, it's a nice American Lager that I will usually see at my local bottle shop. On one hand I'm surprised you can't find it but I guess I'm not sure how wide their distribution is. I think B2000 has made this recipe a number of times.Fellas, I wish I could find this beer down here to try. Been thinking about it and would love to see a recipe if you wouldn't mind. It may not be original to style but I liked it when I was able to get it. I would also like to see the recipe.
