Nothing like being outside. Occasionally you get a day in the fall when it's maybe 60° and sitting in the sun feels damn nice. Beer and wings added... oh, hell yeah!
Post a picture of your pint...

Lefty, just curious how much dark malt was in this beer... what percentage and which grain? Sorry if it was posted... I didn't see it. Doobah was asking about the U FLEKU dark lager which has a very similar color and opaqueness to it. I think it's like a "Czech Dunkel" but my Munich Dunkels don't end up with quite that much color. It would be helpful to have a read on it. Cheers.
There wasn't too much dark malts added to this beer; I believe there was some pale chocolate malt for a small roasty note, and carafa 3 for color. I'll look at the recipe when I get home. The base malt was a spilt of domestic two row and Maris Otter- a favorite combo of mine for hop forward beers.

Just worked the percentages, hope this clarifies your question. Grain bill works out to be: 46% Two Row, 43% maris otter, 4% carafa 3, 4% wheat, 3% caramel 60.

Thanks for that. I just went and checked my latest Munich Dunkel recipe and the Carafa III was 2% so your recipe is double that. Makes sense.Just worked the percentages, hope this clarifies your question. Grain bill works out to be: 46% Two Row, 43% maris otter, 4% carafa 3, 4% wheat, 3% caramel 60.
Nice. I have a Munich Helles waiting in the "on-deck" fridge and I also have a house full of people staying with us this weekend... it's gonna be drained!Helles

For those who pumpkin ale..
Finally decided to do a pumpkin ale with pumpkin in the mash; roasted 2 cans of puree til it was nice and caramelized, with the help of some honey. tossed it in the mash, with a pound of rice hulls, and it ran without a hitch. After hearing so many horror stories mashing with pumpkin, was expecting the worst. base wort was 2 row, special roast, and a dash of C-150. Used Horizon for bittering and Sterling at 10 minutes. last 5 minutes of the boil had cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, clove and allspice. at the start of the boil, Dermea cane sugar, light brown sugar and fresh ginger added.
at packaging, added a tincture of two scrapped vanilla beans soaked in vodka. (which came at a primo price- two fresh beans for a cool $14. had to ask for them behind the counter at a international farmer's market).
what came out was a 9.1% pumpkin pie style beer; full bodied, not cloying, and will be a nice desert at thanksgiving. this was one of the more extreme beers I made this year, and it was well worth the wait.

I found 2 packages of vanilla beans over the weekend. I think about 20 beans total .. I felt rich!

Doppelbock: 8% and quite tasty, especially on a cold day like today.
Pardon the condensate (beer is actually quite clear).

the first staro-prague lager is pretty much crystal clear now. I had to wipe the condensation off the glass:
