I might try Lotus hops tomorrow in a brew. Never used them but I'll try most anything.

I brewed a DIPA yesterday using the Lotus and Nelson Sauvin hops. I'm using Voss Kveik and it's at 104 degrees! Gravity has dropped 42 points in 24 hours and it smells divine.

Looks about done after 48 hours. Went from 1.070 to 1.012. Using magnets to lower the hop bag soon.

(Not sure if you seriously wanted to know about the magnet dry hop). But...

When I dumped the wort into my 10g torpedo, I added my yeast and Tilt. I then put 6oz of hops in a bag with 2 sous vide magnets. I placed it on the high side of the keg with a super strong magnet on the outside to hold it into place. At the appropriate time, I just slide the magnet towards the bottom of the keg. No O2 ever enters the equation.

I like it.  I don't know if I could hold a bag large enough out of my wort :P

You'd be pushing it! Although, my strong "outside" magnet is insanely strong.

Tomorrow or Sunday is going to be brew day for me.  This will be brew #3 in the new electric rig.  Major gains on brew #2 from brew #1

IPA

12lbs 2 Row

1.5lb Crystal 15

1oz of Columbus at 60min

2 oz of Columbus at 5

2 oz of Columbus at 1

Considering my efficiency isn't where it needs to be, I've decided i'll either brew in a bag so I can squeeze everything out of the grain, or i might add an extra 1.5lb of grain to that recipe.   I'm tempted to do both, but I know I should really just try 1 modification so I can figure out this rig.

Have you tasted any of the beer yet? Are you bottling or kegging?

One thing I've learned with my rig (Anvil) is even though it will boil uncovered, I need to partially cover the kettle to get a strong enough boil for a good hot break. I've ended up with a few unintentionally hazy beers when I neglected to do that.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Not sure what your lid looks like with the anvil, but my rig has a glass lid and the top has a circular opening for the re-circulator.   I found that if I leave the lid on, I can get a full rolling boil.   I've also found that if I don't' keep an eye on it, the foam from the hops can still boil over.

I've been bottling about 1-1.5 gallons, then the rest goes into mini kegs.   The second batch I added corn sugar before bottling/kegging.   I'm letting that batch condition in the fermentation chamber at 65 degrees.

Mine is steel with a small hole for recirculation as well (though I usually leave the lid off during the mash so I can keep a better eye on things). During the boil, I usually leave the lid maybe 3/4 on so I get some volume reduction during the boil and to let any DMS escape.

Hopefully the results are good!

Gravity reading right around 1.009 and the sample i sipped from the test tasted pretty good.   Will bottle and keg Wednesday.  Now to figure out the next brew...

I'm going to get a red IPA going tomorrow. I don't think I've checked a FG in years.

Doing a Houblon Chouffe homage today. Using Crisp Hana malt with a fairly extensive mash schedule.  https://community.gr.../recipes/879557
