The new patch breaks a bunch of stuff. I was getting used to the quirky flight model/AP on the Longitude jet, but now it's unplayable. TMB still seems OK, but it was bouncing around on me a little.

having a detailed model of the whole world takes up some space!
does this game need internet access to work or can it run completely offline?

There’s also a cache folder that might be stored somewhere else.
The update this week fixed some of the things they broke.
I got a Honeycomb Yoke the other week. It’s really nice. I want to get their throttle quad thing when it ships later this year.

These guys fixed the x-cub. Also have a bunch of liveries. Easy to install. Guess there are just tons of things out there to add.

Stain: have you looked at your FPS in the developer menu? What setting are you running with the 3080 and what performance are you getting?

I haven't looked.
I run on Ultra everything. I'll measure this tomorrow.
It is not choppy at all. Smooth AF

that article really missed an opportunity to do some side by sides.

Tech blogs substitute snark for substance. Substance is too much work.
While Google photogrammetry is undoubtedly better than Bing, Bing's maps aren't implemented with great fidelity. Probably a combo of bad code and intentional optimization for performance (both download/load and fps) vs realism. So, I don't think FS stock scenery vs Google bespoke scenery is a great comparison, but everyone likes to shit on Bing when presented an opportunity. What is there is pretty impressive and at least MS allows you to add your own.

I had some stuttering yesterday when making a decent to Lax yesterday, bit that was when there was a lot of fog/smog/low level clouds being rendered as well as a lot of ATC traffic.
My specs are ryzen 3700x,rtx 2070 super, and 16gb ram. I suspect I need to bump the ram up to 32 to load more scenery and not ctd so much.

Bespoke how? Google scenery is made just for me?
The game scenery. Generated by hand vs auto-generated from the game.

I’m not sure what the optimism FPS for the game. 30-ish FPS seem pretty smooth. I had some issues, but I used Asus’s tweaker tool thing to kill unneeded stuff and that seemed to help. Weather seems to take a pretty good hit. I need to look into optimizing the settings for best bang for the buck.
The game appears to be pretty CPU-bound. I gather it’s not unusual, but still annoys me the game doesn’t utilize all cores.
