Another batch tomorrow.  Water is filtered and grains are weighed out for an attempt at something like Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen.  70% Munich 2, 30% Pilsner, one hop addition at the start of the boil for about 24-25 IBUs and 2124.  Hopefully in 2 months I'll be looking at something like this:

a Classic Marzen; I'm good for brewing a beer in this style every other year or so; but a 12 pack of Paulaner ends up in the beer fridge every year.  good luck!

Im behind here.

Yes, low vigor and 30 min boils were causing a protein haze on my system. Presumably from lack protein coagulation.

Moving back to 60 minutes cured it. A more vigorous boil at 30 minutes may have cured it but I never tried that.

I did a 30 minute regular vigor boil, kegged and gelled the beer Tuesday at day 9,  poured pretty today day 12, pretty nice pale ale

I just checked my fermentor a little while ago, signs of fermentation are showing. I got up at 2 am this morning, fell out around 7 pm the night before. did a lot of prep work the night before with set up.  (crushed grain, preheated water, etc). GF is outta town with the girls in NYC, so left to my own devices for the weekend. Brewed a Saison. Mashed in at 4AM, everything cleaned up and put away at noon. Heat index was 105*; dodged a bullet with the heat; several members of my club started to brew around 10 am, and from all stories told, completely miserable experience had by all.

Besides kegging an English IPA tomorrow (my first using MO in the grist), I'm hoping to find some time to make a starter w/ 3711, then finding a day this week for a workday brewday.

With saison in mind, I'm thinking a simple grist, mainly pils, plus a bit of Munich, to an OG of ~1.060 for 5.5 gal in the primary.

For the hop load, Magnum to bitter, and either EKG or First Gold for some light flavor/aroma additions, for ~30 IBUs total.

If the weather people are correct, the next few days should be decent for brewing, a rare thing in the Queen City this time of year.

Saison postponed, cream ale on deck.

91% Pils, 9% flaked corn, to an OG of 1.060 for 5.5 gal in the primary,

All Liberty pellets to ~30 IBUs total.  US-05 will handle the heavy lifting in the primary.

a Czech Lager on Thursday... an unlikely combination of Golden Promise and Briess Pilsen plus some Munich 1.  Hallertau to about 24 IBU, 2278.

I have made a vienna and a marzen over the past month along with three "gold lagers" for this warmer weather.  This week I'm going to mix it up and make [what I'm calling] an American Amber Lager.  Golden Promise, some Briess Pilsen malt, CaraMunich 2, Magnum to bitter and then 2-3 ounces of Hallertau and/or Tettnanger and/or Hersbrucker and/or Spalt at flameout and then 2124.  Should be nice.

I stopped at one of my LHBS's today and picked up some acid malt, some wheat, some Starsan and also some Cascade and other hops and also some 1099 Whitbread.  Once this 2124 is retired I'm going to dial up some ales... pale ale, a bitter of some sort, MLPA, maybe a blonde, etc.  Cheers.

Ken, you put me to shame. I've been thinking about brewing this week, but couldn't muster the energy between chores and working on the house.

Cheers to you man! I've got to brew this week though. I know my only keg is going to kick any day now!

I had a bit of a break and then a number of gatherings where A LOT of people were pulling the tap handles.  I try to have a beer on each of the four taps plus extra kegs in the on-deck fridge.  I only have 10 kegs total and I think six of them were empty a month ago.

Brewed this yesterday afternoon/evening.  Currently bubbling away in the fridge at 50°.  I threw the three ounces of nobles in at flameout.  A sort of German hop 'fruit cocktail'.  :P  The wort had a nice amber/red color to it.  Looking forward to sampling it.
