Here's another low-O2, spunded and unfined beer. I know I posted the recipe for this and it's a bit unusual... Golden Promise, some CaraMunich 2 and British C90 and wheat along with Horizon to bitter and then an ounce of Northern Brewer and Loral added at flameout (heat turned off, lid on to steep for about 20 minutes) all fermented with 2112. The pic was taken in unfortunate lighting but it's clear (credit to the 2112) and delicious.

Whoopsie-doodle... the beer in that last pic I posted was not spunded. It was force-carbed. It was "lower-O2" and it was not fined but the beer fermented fully in the fermenter and was then transferred and force-carbed. The point of this exercise (make 6 spunded beers and then 4 force-carbed beers) was to see if I could skip the spund and end up with beer I was happy with and I guess I just found my answer. I went back and checked my notes and see that this beer was indeed force-carbed.

This is the same gold lager I posted recently (in the Bavaria glass). It has just hit the 8-week mark and it's now as clear as any beer I have made and it was not fined. It tells me that the low-O2 & spunded beer are good at 6 weeks but great at 8 weeks. Truly a delicious beer.

Here we go again. This time it's a low-O2, spunded and unfined West Coast Lager with Northern Brewer and 2112. Very happy with this beer.

Great color on that beer Ken... Very nice!
Cheers Drez. That's 90% Maris Otter, 5% C40 and 5% CaraMunich 2.

I like that malt profile. I could see a 50/50 MO/GP working for me in a beer like that. Hop schedule, por favor, mi hermano?

On this beer I had about 16 IBUs of Northern Brewer at the start of the boil (which came to about a half-ounce) and then I used the other ½ ounce at 10 minues, another ounce at 2 minutes and then 2 ounces into the 170° whirlpool and allowed to steep for about 15 minutes and then I continued the chill.

#4 in my recent series of low-O2 beers: A gold beer made with some small amounts of Rahr Pale Ale, MO, GP and Vienna. Nugget to bitter and a late dose of Loral, 2112.

That looks great, Drez. Was this "all low-O2 except for the force carbing"? Cheers.
