Very pretty. You are liking what you are getting from S-189 in the beers you've used it?
Post a picture of your pint...

Very much. What did I make... a pils, a helles, an amber lager kind of thing and this American premium. That's a lot of gold beer but most of these were made between May and July and I always have some gold lager on tap here. This is the first time in a long time using any kind of dry yeast and Chils suggested trying the S-189. Not only was it super convenient to use but the resulting beers have been really solid. I still have a pack of the S-189 left and it will be awhile before I use it because I have 830 running now and 2308 and Omega Bayern Lager waiting patiently but it's nice to have the dry lager yeast available as a backup or (as in this base)... Plan A. Cheers.Very pretty. You are liking what you are getting from S-189 in the beers you've used it?

Another thing I'm noticing as I continue brewing is this super soft and fluffy head. I know that I have mentioned this in the past and wondered if it was water adjustment, pH control, better ingredients, could it be the brewtan either directly or in some roundabout way... etc. Many of my beers lately have featured this ultra thick & fluffy head.

Case in point... this Altbier.

my one brewtan beer has good head but it also has some wheat and carapils in it.

Beautiful beer Ken.

I would bet the most foam positive stuff in that recipe is the truckload of hops.
Actually, this reminds me that I need to get some of those rubber mats.

Did you use 1007? For some reason that yeast seems to really promote the formation of a solid head.Case in point... this Altbier.

Yes, sir. 1007 all the way. If the yeast is the reason, that's good news because I also made a German Pale Ale with a bunch of Northern Brewer and Perle and 1007... should be nice and foamy!Did you use 1007? For some reason that yeast seems to really promote the formation of a solid head.

I feel you on that fire, btw. I didn't start one but I made my world-famous chicken tortilla soup tonight because there is a chill in the air.
