The company told me 30f lower than ambient, and that is what I got about 31F lower than ambient.

In the 10g fermentor, filled with water, it took just over 30 hours to chill from 68 to 45.  Not so bad.

I haven't tested the 20g yet.

That 60F differential is almost impossible to get, so 31F sounds about right.

Anyway you can post some pictures of how the peltiers are attached to the cone?

I'm going to the LHBS today to grab some grains for a small pale ale.  Going to give BIAB a go.

Marris Otter and Honey Malt.  Deciding on the hops now.  Not too sure what I want to use.  Something I can use for hop bursting more than bittering.  I don't think I will even use any bittering hops at all.  Just at the 15-20 min mark and down.  Then dry hop to get a hoppy brew that isn't overly bitter.  I want it to be around 5% ABV with a SG around 1.049 or so.

What about Green Bullet and Simcoe for hops for a pale ale?

Do you like the Honey Malt? I'd be careful with what % you use unless you're familiar with it.

I've used it a couple of times and didn't care for the flavor very much.

Not familiar with green bullet. Never heard a complaint about Simcoe... it's a natural in hoppy american styles.

I love Simcoe, but I can name at least 1 board member who loathes it , only experience I have with GB is in Steinlager, meh

I do like the honey malt.  I used it in a brown ale back in the day.  I thought it would give an interesting sweetness to make a  really easy drinking hoppy brew.  I thought about just going Marris Otter and 2-Row mix.

Never heard a complaint?  Well here is one.

It sucks balls.  If you want to drink a litter box, use Simcoe.

I think crop year and usage makes a huge difference, but I've gotten that flavor you speak of and no sir I didn't like it one bit. I had a similar loathing of Amarillo one year, but that was because I was using it like I had the prior years product. Turned me off for a while til I figured out how to balance it, then it was ok but not great.

Amarillo is a close second in ball sucking.

I'm a little slow. I just realized why Basser named his cat Simcoe.

I've used it a lot. Haven't tasted anything in Simcoe I didn't like. Strange, did you know people actually taste things differently?

Maybe I've avoided the association by avoiding cats. Cats? WTF?

Not about Simcoe but another hop that is refereed to as catty.  I believe it is the compound 4mmp in the hop that give it that flavor/aroma but basser would know better.

"When Sierra Nevada began evaluating Citra about five years ago, men on the brewery’s tasting panel described tropical fruit flavors, while women called the same beer catty or said it reminded them of tomato plants. Women on average detect odors at much lower concentrations and are more likely to rate smells as more intense and unpleasant, but many men share an unfavorable perception of Citra.?
