How long does that stuff last in the fridge. I have some, but it is old old old.

Well I brewed this yesterday and everything went well but I came up about .5 gal short in the fermenter. I had the boil rolling a lot more than usual so I think I lost some there. And I left some behind in the mash tun, I some how had one set of slits facing up when I put the manifold together  But the color looked really nice and it's chugging along nicely right now. Can't wait for this one and will use the yeast cake and follow it up with DC's RyeIPA.I also used fermcap for the first time when making this starter. What a difference it made trying to prevent a boil over boiling in the flask on the stove top!

Don't worry. Those sound like common mistakes we all encounter. You'll adjust next time! Congrats on the beer!

Chilling (the beer and me). OG 1.062. Decided to do the Falconer's-Amarillo mix. Also decided to go with Alison Krauss and Union Station during the mash for maximum enzymatic activity.

I love Allison Krauss! I actually listened to them today while working. Your beer will be fine!

I feel like the boil was enhanced by the Gov't Mule I was playing and the funky Meters set a nice funky rhythm for the chill and that helped me get down to pitching temps quickly. Delaney and Bonnie kept me going through the cleanup afterwards.I'm not sure how red this stuff is but it's definitely a beautiful amber.

Looks like my fermentation is starting to wane. I have less than an inch of krausen now and I've started to raise the temperature a little to finish it off. It may not be ready to transfer by Sunday but we'll see. If I need to I'll take it out of the fridge and let it warm up to the high 60's.
