Single player is typically a must for me. They also let you setup small servers (10 dudes) where you can all work together or maybe even apart. My understanding is that if the server is up continuously, you can kinda dip in and out regardless of who is playing.  Oh and the game doesn't have stone chimneys.

IMO they did a really good job with the atmosphere. The graphics look about 2 generations behind but when you're walking around the forest it still looks beautiful.

Somehow it still needs a lot of optimization. I'd be in game now but we have company. Dammit, life needs to be a single player game.

Got some scotch and gaming in yesterday. One core shy of my smelter. Soon the bronze begins.

Dropped a troll and got his skin. Hoping there's something cool to do with it.

If you don't have the bow, you can run and jump at them with an axe. Otherwise, bow.

 

Got the bronze, started building a tower in the middle of my base to laugh down upon all the lands.

I'm venturing into the swamp today but first I need to get some more honey for poison resistance

Deer went down without much trouble because I built a little fort and firing tower.

 

Black forest is about half a day away, so I'm thinking I have to move.

Ran out of fire arrows and got killed by a troll.  Luckily it was right outside my new base.

I thought i was smart and climbed a tower i found along a troll's patrol path. It was pretty high, should've been fine ...

 

I hit him twice before he responded with that log. It was a screen full of numbers and exploding clouds of dust. Skrok is alpha, tho, eating 2 types of meat and shrooms. He survived, kept faling back and plinking with arrows. Real arrows, not fake fire arrows. Blue pants to match my blue tunic. TrollzKinz

Damnit this game is frustrating!  There is a huge leap in enemy power between Meadow and Black Forest, and no way to prepare for it.  So far every time I've stepped into the pines I've gotten killed.  Last night two skeletons jumped me and one-shot me.  Now I'm probably not going to be able to get that stuff back.

Skrok fights strong with the axe. Black Forest hasn't given me much trouble.

 

Leather armor and more food.

Yep. Upgraded leather and helmet helps.

I can't get bone scraps without going into the forest so I'm stuck at 6 armor.

I might have a particularly shitty seed, too. My Black Forest is all up and down with almost no visibility. It's hard to even move through, and kiting is almost impossible.

Hack that shit up. I'd go on a chopping rampage, just like the romans did in Germania. Did you ice the first boss yet? That's important before Black Forest makes sense.

The problems are more elevation than trees, although the trees contribute to the visibility problems.

 

I just remembered that you can take your shit between worlds.  I'll try a new world tonight and see if I can find a more passible Black Forest.
