I need to make something with some ABV to last me through "these challenging times".  the lower ABV stuff disappears too quickly :P

I recently did the baltic porter and while I loved it I always want to try something else.  I'm thinking something more amber colored....

hmmmmmm......

I'm not sure what exactly guess into those but possibly the ticket. I already make an orange colored Vienna lager so I obviously don't care about color accuracy that much!

I need to check out my inventory but I'm thinking I might use 2-row, a little crystal, a little carapils copper, maybe even some table sugar.

Not sure on hops.

I just googled this up, have never tried this recipe to be clear, but sounds good. I might give it a try if you don't.

As I was brewing yesterday I had a similar thought.  I thought about something really simple like this reacipe https://brews-bros.c...019/?p=2926030 but instead of 4.9% have it closer to 7%.  Part of me wants to put like 1-2% smoke malt in there too.

That's kind of how I make my Vienna lager. Comes out great! Smoke might be a nice addition as well.

I think I may add some sugar during fermentation depending on what my OG ends up being....

I decided to just add 2lbs of sugar during the boil.  also I forgot to add brewtan B to my batch sparge.  not a huge deal but whoops!

I think I might have measured wrong on my water.  ended up with almost 12 gallons of liquid at 1.076.  Still 73-74% eff overall.  whatever - it will be beer!

hmmm - hard to tell right now but I might need to call an audible and dry hop the bejesus out of this in the serving kegs.  I'll see how it tastes cold though.  it has a definite sweetness to it right now that seems to be asking for hops.

Hmmmmm... Just took another hydro sample. No movement so I think it's done. Tastes less sweet to me though. Chilling now so we'll see how it is before I keg it. I could always dry hop one keg and leave the other as originally planned. Them I get two different beers

El dorado as the base. I think it would work well here. I'd have to look at my current inventory.

I'm actually changing my mind now that it's cold.  I may not dry hop it or if I do I think it needs more classic american IPA hops.

new beer is always exciting for me.  I probably like it more than I should.  I'd say this beer is kind of like a dead guy ale (which is kind of a maibock).  that seems about right here.
