They are a game changer. I remember making fun of them when they first came out... I take it all back now.
now that they aren't cork, I'd love to have a few, the metal float is the game changer

The only thing I don't like is if the keg is very full, you may have to dip your hand in the beer to hook the flexible tube to the metal dip tube. Could always use a glove. I think there was another thread on this.
Maybe yours work differently than mine. Mine are already in the keg and attached to the dip tube when I fill it. In fact I fill through the floating dip tube.

Same here.

Yeah, I guess I will just revise my order of doing things. I transfer to the keg from a plastic fermentation bucket with an autosiphon. I'm used to letting my posts and such soak in sanitizer until the beer is all transferred but I guess I can put it all together beforehand.
At least put a beer out QD on the end of that autosiphon and fill that way. It will also help avoid O2 exposure.

If you're using the floating dip tube (vs the full length metal dip tube) wouldn't that actually cause more O2 exposure due to splashing than just putting the tubing from the autosiphon at the bottom of the keg?

No, not really. Plus you are in a sealed environment unlike with the lid off and filling from the top. Especially if you purge the keg with off gas from fermentation. The floating diptube, at least mine are against the bottom as the keg is filled. Lower than the metal diptube that was originally on there.
I guess it's the same either way. I was just trying to understand if there's an advantage to using the QD.
Avoiding excessive origination. It is a simple way for a closed trasfer.

I have a couple of kegs going right now. One seems like it's probably fine but the other still had some weight. They are both drawing co2 through the line like they are empty. Not sure what's up. More info to come...
