Well, I just received notification that my order has been delivered.  Now I have to wait to get home and see if I have 9#'s in that 7# shipped package

HopsDirect sent me an email saying my stuff is being delivered today. I checked the FedEx tracking and at the top of the screen it shows that it's being delivered tomorrow but in the detail of the tracking it shows that it's out on a truck for delivery today. Weirdness.

I did order a vacuum sealer thing too. A cheap, $35 one that I hope will let me keep these hops fresh for awhile. It's going to take me awhile to work through 80 ounces of Hallertau.

Maybe when you alerted them to the pricing issue on their site they thought you were bringing to their attention the fact that you only wanted 1 pound instead of 5. Although you said the order showed 5 pounds. Not sure but it must be a misunderstanding.

I never said pricing, I just let them know there was an issue with Hallertau.

My vacuum sealer arrived today. It came with some "bags" and a roll of the bag material. I don't have time to jump into it right now but I assume all of these are along the same lines and here's my question: Can I take something like a pound of Hallertau pellets, place them into one of these bags, vacuum-seal it and then eventually cut it open to use it and then re-vacuum-seal that same bag again? What do you guys typically do? Do you vac-seal smaller amounts of hops?

I add a pound to the bag seal it and then open and reseal each time.  I do not break it up in smaller portions.

So maybe take a pound, place it in a bag and vac-seal it. Open it when needed and then when done vac-seal the same bag again? I should do this for each of the varieties I just got because it's not normal for me to have hops in POUNDS... I almost always buy ounces.

Please keep us posted on this. I'm interested to hear what happened and also in what they plan to do about it. The fact that your order showed 5# and you were charged for 5# on the shipping suggests that they're about to send you another 4# gratis.
