So maybe take a pound, place it in a bag and vac-seal it. Open it when needed and then when done vac-seal the same bag again? I should do this for each of the varieties I just got because it's not normal for me to have hops in POUNDS... I almost always buy ounces.
 

Yes, that is how I do it.  The first time I open a package I foodsaver it.

I do the same as Drez with hop storage.

This THING was something like $32 so I don't know if I have super high hopes but the reviews were good and it looks like a good machine so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to store all of these hops and keep them fresh.

Yeah, I thought so. It had to be a goof. Maybe they had a huge volume of orders during that time and someone just short-circuited when they picked your order. Glad it worked out.

I am sure that is what it was.  I guess the one good thing is I will have 5-1# packages so no need to repackage!

a hunch.  Their standard offerings are 1#, 5# and 11#.  I would be surprised if they broke a 5# or 11# down to a 4#.

I am happy with the resolution that is for sure.  These hops will go a long way to help with my current lager brewing trend.  After I keg this batch tonight 3 of 4 taps will be lagers... who am I!!
