You can at least let us know that none look like that sludge beer.
I wish I could say that. I'm taking pics of every one.

I am curios what one you had that was sludge.

I will add that this is what is in the bottom of a can from January. This was taken on April 3. You can see the beer is still cloudy but there is not much trub in the can, at least less that I expected.

Sludge? Odd seeing I am drinking the same stuff as I sent you and I have no "sludge" in my glass.

Maybe we have different definitions of sludge....

Could be. I think of sludge as stuff in my glass, like the pictures I posted in this thread. Oh well, I will wait and see what you write about them. I know what I like and in the end that is all that matters for me. Everyone should try the stuff for themselves (not just related to this topic) and see if they like it.

I wonder, did it look like this or different? I would describe this as very hazy (not in a bad way). maybe denny would call that sludgy. I dunno. the main thing is that the examples of these beers that I have had have all been delicious.
similar look with HT:

Buchan believes there’s a misconception that hazy beers mean you are “holding a glassful of yeast in your hand,†he says. But his beers, which include two IPAs, Rare Trait and Strange Claw, get their haze from dry-hopping, something his business partner, microbiologist Chris Washenberger, has confirmed under a microscope.

Yeah, pretty much so, Morty. I would describe that as very hazy in a bad way. Although my "sludge" comment came at least as much from the gritty mouthfeel as the appearance.
Somebody tell me what I'm missing here... What does the haze do to improve the beer?

The beers I've had so far I assumed were hazy from hops, judging by the grit in them.

I guess that my pallet is complete messed up then because I have not had any grit. I am not surprised at the reaction so far, it is 100% what I expected.

I'd say that those purposely trying to induce the haze are doing it wrong. it's simply a by product of a beer that saw a substantial amount of dry hopping without trying to get the hop induced haze out of the beer. the haze is a by product and not the goal in and of itself.
that's my opinion anyway

I have to agree. I'd only experience anything close to "grit" if I poured out the majority of the can, swirled what's left and then thrown it down the hatch. it's not exactly gritty though.

I don't want you to think I'm dead set on dissing these beers. I assure you that I'm approaching them with an open mind. I'm just describing what I found and tasted. Maybe grit isn't the right word, but there's definitely something I can feel in my teeth. Should I not be pouring the entire can? Should I be decanting like a bottle?
The other thing I haven't come to grips with yet is that I've had beers as hoppy in every way as these, but without the opacity. Why is this better? I mean, I'll freely admit that there are beer styles I just don't like and this may be one of them. But I can't for the life of me understand why they have to be that hazy.

HT will clear if you let it sit long enough. these beers are hazy b/c people are nearly obsessed with getting hoppy beers as young as possible.
I have to disagree about the hoppy aspect of the beers. I've never had a crystal clear beer that is as hoppy as one that is loaded up with hop haze. that includes commercial examples and my own home brew. the flavor is also different.
