[HVB]

Von Trapp's Instagram makes me want to be there drinking every one of their beers.  A Helles is on my to-do list and there are great articles about it in Beer and Brewing.  In fact a large portion of the current issue is dedicated to Pilsners, Helles, Lagers et al.

I have to be in Stowe for a work function in two weeks and the Von Trapp brewery is about 10 minutes away.  I hope they have some Bierhall only beers.

Pale Kellerbier. Just fermented, tossed in the keg, and put on pressure. only lagering will be the time it sits in the keg. did the quick lager method; fermented in 11 days with 833. there is a touch of sulfur, but it has a fair amount of esters, and well, it's becoming one of favorite styles to drink.

I read that historically they were aged with an open bung so we're barely carbonated. That part doesn't sound great to me. I like my tiny bubbles

‘Corn’er Pils’ drinking wonderfully on this hot Sunday. My ‘Grit’y Pils’ is bubbling away. Side by side tasting should be interesting.

this was a beer years in the making- just wrapped up bottling in 750ml bottles for a rainy day. A cherry Kriek. did a mixed fermentation with US-05, then pitched Wyeast 3763, and parked it into a closet for a 14 months, checking airlocks every 2 months. then, for 4 months, tossed 10# of local sour cherries. 

 

this is absolutely refreshing, and the reason being I bottle all my traditional sour beers, they wouldn't last long in the keg. At a easy 4.5% in hot weather, goes down easy.
