Normally I would agree. Now that I have the water filter housing, I'm actually contemplating also using it (with appropriate filters of course) for filtering beer... at least I want to try it at least once. Just need to get some tubing and connectors to do it... along with a filter.

Double entendre for sure.

Some brew buddies of mine tried it. They stopped because it was to much hassle plus there was a decent amount of loss. Nothing like a cold secondary IMO.

Yup, I've tried it. Once. It was entirely too much trouble for me for not much gain.In my mind, if you really want to filter the beer, you need to get those plate filters and go from the coarse, and then refilter with the medium, and that should polish the beer well enough. I don't really want to filter my beer though, so I do as blktre, and just keep the kegs cold.I know this isn't an option for you right now, but since it is supposed to be cloudy, I'd say to just leave it as is.

Even if I filtered beer, I would NEVER filter a hefe.

Took a bunch from KC to Dallas for drewseslu's wedding. I transferred off the little sludge in the kegs to new ones. Worked great. Don't remember how many but it made more sense to keep them upright and tied together for stability.

Neither would I but to me there is a difference of being cloudy per style to having a few pints of crap floating around in your keg. Regardless of style.

We have a board member in Japan. He's an American working at a brewery. Drop a note to CJinJapan via PM an introduce yourself. He's not too frequent on the board, but that may be because of his schedule and time zone.

Unfortunately my trips to Japan consist of meeting and full days. I usually meet someone at 0600 and get back to my hotel room at 2400. I would love to say that these trips are exciting but they aren't. I usually give the same presentation at least 10 times to various people...ugh!

An idea if you don't have the space for a cooler - a large black trash bag, the heavy duty kind. You should be able to put the keg in the bag, and tie it up well so that just in case anything does happen, it will only spill in to the bag. This also won't require much additional space.

For tailgating, I pick up a $10 trashcan from Walmart. They fit two kegs, and it throws off the police when they come through the parking lots hassling people about open containers.
