Never driven long distance with a keg before. Sediment is not an issue... It is the Hefe... Must the keg travel upright or can it be laid on its side?Travelling vehicle is a Cadillac SRX.

It is not tapped, and requires the Co2 tank and regulator to be hooked to it to push te beer.Question was meant to be about safely transporting it without leaking issues on its side.

You can lay it on it's side, but be careful not to have anything that might accidentally press on a poppet and spill beer all over hell. Upright is best.

What's long distance? I drove over 4 hours away with a couple kegs laying down in a cooler sitting on a trailer bouncing around. Upon arrival they sat up right for about a day before tapping. No problems at all and poured just as nice if they hadn't endured that ride.

About a 4 hour drive Thursday night and a 5 hour drive on Friday. I will be mindful about the poppets as I am loading up the car. The keg will have less than 24 hours after travelling, but as I said, it's a Hefe, so I'm not concerned.

Would it be possible to place them into a big cooler while they were on their sides? At least you would prevent a mess if you could do that. I have taken kegs up to Miller Park for tailgating (90 minute ride, ish) but always put the keg in a cooler, upright and bungeed to side of the trunk area. Either way I'm thinking you're fine as long as the kegs are pressurized, don't leak and the poppets aren't tampered with. Cheers.

An idea if you don't have the space for a cooler - a large black trash bag, the heavy duty kind. You should be able to put the keg in the bag, and tie it up well so that just in case anything does happen, it will only spill in to the bag. This also won't require much additional space.

An obscure product to be sure. And I've been rooting around the Midwest Supplies site for the better part of 2 weeks, waiting for an item to come "in stock".
