You can gently squeeze with a pair of channel locks too.

I didn't solder mine either. I just used my awesome grip strength to fit mine together! :)

Careful! You don't want to damage that Kung-Fu Grip! Devalues the collectible.

Picked up a piece of copper pipe and finished the manifold (except for the slots). I soldered the 45 and the arm to the hose barb adapter so it wont suck air when the wort gets below that high part. Here are some pics before the soldering.Posted ImagePosted ImageDan

That's looks great. Very similar to what I did. My geometry was different but I had the same basic problem of getting the drain pipe over top the manifold to get to the drain hole in the cooler. Even though it has that 2" inch rise, it should drain all the way to the bottom until the siphon breaks. You can tell you've never used it because the copper is tarnished. After the first beer you make, that thing will be as shiny as a new penny.

Guess it's not time to mash in. If you have access to a band saw it won't take long at all.

Use the Dremel until you run out of cut off wheels (should take about 13 seconds) and then switch to the hacksaw.

More smaller slots is better than fewer big ones. Remember that the siphon will break as soon as the highest slot hits air. Mine go maybe 1/4 to 1/3 the diameter of the tubing.
