JK: That looks very nice, Amigo. Actually... I did take some shots of your beer because it looked so nice in the glass. But I was having some camera issues and your beer shots came out fuzzy. Then I went back and looked at a bunch of other shots that had been taken recently and they were fuzzy too. When I looked at my camera, there were smudgy fingerprints all over the lens (pesky kids!). I had some shots of some of my beers in there too and they're all fuzzy. :smilielol: But the beer was good! Cheers.

DOH!

I think it would be good. Only concern is if caramunich is more malty than crystal (I don't know if it is) you may want to bump up the AAUs a little bit.

I don't think the caramunich is more malty, I just think the flavor is slightly different. At least that's what I've heard. I have some that i haven't got a chance to try yet.

What about adding Caravienne instead of the Caramel malt? It would definetely be lighter in color. I've got a pound of Caravienne and am looking for an excuse to use it.Also, if I added Caramel 40L as opposed to Caramel 60L, what are the differences I can expect? Less malty?

Yes, WYeast 1056 is virtually identical to WLP001.

nbbeerguy: That looks just fine to me. I think the CaraMunich is slightly lighter in color and probably just about as malty as C60 so I can't see a problem here except for a slightly lighter color (which isn't a problem at all). I have also made the beer with 1056, WLP001 (preferred) and US-05 and I think the 1056 will be great. Cheers & good luck with it.

DOH!

I know. I was just on vacation also and my wife handed me her camera at one point and I looked at the lens... smudges! My kids had been using her camera. I cleaned it off and hoped that the previously-taken shots were okay... I would hate for my wife's shots of the Grand Canyon to be smudgy. Cheers.

Good luck with it. I have some in primary that desperately needs to get into a secondary. Cheers!
