Just sent that secondary of MLPA to a keg. Wow, did it smell good. I think I need to make another batch of this and keep it around in a keg and THEN make another batch and get that one into bottles. But of course... I hate bottling. :P

Well my first attempt at MLPA is probably going to not be good due to dead wyeast that was dead after I got it home it was MFG june of 08 sooooo I ended up using Coopers as thats all my LHBS had and also I could only pick up EKG hops and Amarillo hops 7.25 Lbs Canadian 2 row1 Lbs Caramunich II.75 Lbs Canadian Wheat Coopers Dry Yeast 1.5 East Kent Goldings Whole leaf hops @ 60 Min (thinking of dry hopping some Amarillo just unsure of the amount)

That's not going to be a bad beer at all. It won't be just like the original MLPA recipe, but it will be good. The Amarillo dry-hop will change it quite dramatically so you'll have to flip a coin on that one. The Amarillo is really citrusy (I taste grapefruit, some say tangerine) so that will really take over the flavor of the beer. Nothing wrong with that as long as you know ahead of time and you like it. I have an Amber Ale coming up that is going to have a bunch of Vanguard and Sterling and then get dry-hopped with Sterling which should be outstanding. Let us know how it comes out! Cheers.

Is it cost-prohibitive to order online? You would have a MUCH larger selection of everything and it would all br fresher too. I know that Earthtone lives in Halifax but I don't know if he gets good local stuff or if he orders online. Keep pushing, NB... let us know how it comes out.

It really depends I have come across a website from Whitby Ont that has Fermentis products(US-05) Safbrew S-23 "True German Lager" Safbrew WB-06, new wheat beer yeast from Fermentis! 11.5g $2.25 a pack where most other places here are selling it for $4-5 per pack so I may just order a bunch of that I can get same day shipping SMT aka Greyhound on Wyeast products out of Halifax NS but its such a pain having to order 99% of everything. As long as places ship USPS shipping is not that bad

Friday night I was pulling the disconnect off my keg and something must've got caught in the poppet, or it didn't seat properly, I proceeded to receive an MLPA shower. Tastiest darn shower I ever had.

No kidding, I'm running low, too. I can't afford to be wasting it. I'm expecting that keg to blow every time I pull the faucet handle.

I just got mine into the draft fridge over the weekend so MLPA is flowing here. I am also making another batch of it tomorrow morning. My plan is to make 3 batches of MLPA and 3 batches of Bases Loaded Blonde and bottle an entire batch of each so I can build up my bottled-beer inventory. But I hate bottling so the plan will probably be foiled somehow... like, I will drink all of it from the kegs and then shrug... Nothing left to bottle. :P

Bottling is a major PITA, but if you're going to do it, do it all at once.

Mashing a batch now. But I ran into an issue with the Crystal 60°L... I only had 8 ounces so I subbed the other 8 with 4 ounces of C40 and 4 oz of C80. Should be good though. JK: I agree... get all the bottling done and out of the way. I had a good amount of bottled beer, but I always bring it to parties or whatever and now my supply is very low. I'd love to have 2 cases of MLPA and another 2 cases of BLBA all bottled up and in the fridge.

Hhmmm, never thought of using a food processor. Probably does a little more than just crack the grain husk eh? :)
