So I have finally given in to the peer pressure and decided to brew MLPA. While looking at the epic thread on it, I stared to think about the recipes on the internet or boards that seem to be the best of the best. So these are the ones that came to my mind, but what else needs to be on the list?(In no particular order)1. MLPA2. JPA3. Denny's Rye IPA4. Quiet Storm StoutI think liquid stupid is on the rise (and I have made it and love it) but I am not sure it is on the rock star list quite yet.

I've made versions 1 and 4 and I have the ingredients for 3 on the way to me right now so I can brew it early this fall. I'll be making 1 again soon so I can have it be closer to the original recipe. I almost have all of the stuff I need to make a JPA although I don't have northern brewer. I can't think of any other recipes like you listed right now...

I've only done 3 and 4. I plan on making liquid stupid again, as my batch from 2008 is almost done now. Also, the semester is just about over, next week the students take their finals, and then the summer starts for me, and I can brew as much as I want. I want to restart my belgian series, I only did the Wit earlier.I still have part of a keg left of the QSS from about a year and a half ago too. I don't seem to go through beer very quickly. Haha.

An old school rock star would be Sister Star of the Sun. Liquid Stupid is definitely worthy of the list.

Denny's RyeIPA is definitely a must have on that list. Even my LHBS knew about it.

Herman Holtrop's Rochfort clone should make this list. It's not as well known, but it's a killer recipe.

Denny's Chimaybe is very good and scored me a 41. Might not be a rock-star brew but certainly worth investigating.

SSOS is definitely worthy of that list.Other old-school internet recipes I might add are a couple from a brewer named Skotrat: B-52 and ABC.B52 might not be quite worthy of that list, but ABC is, as long as you let cysers onto your beer list.

As supreme ruler of this somewhat impromptu and arbitrary list I say ABC is added as number 7.I had not heard of the B-52 before, but it looks good.

It stands for Japanese Pale Ale. It is an American IPA that was formulated by this mysterious guy named CJ in Japan. Just as mysterious is the recipe. There have been a number of different versions floating around, but this is the one I like and use. I wont promise I havent tweeked it slightly either, but I dont think I did much.CJ's JPAA ProMash Recipe ReportBJCP Style and Style Guidelines-------------------------------07-0 India Pale Ale, India Pale AleMin OG: 1.050 Max OG: 1.075Min IBU: 40 Max IBU: 60Min Clr: 8 Max Clr: 14 Color in SRM, LovibondRecipe Specifics----------------Batch Size (Gal): 11.00 Wort Size (Gal): 11.00Total Grain (Lbs): 27.10Anticipated OG: 1.069 Plato: 16.72Anticipated SRM: 9.4Anticipated IBU: 69.6Brewhouse Efficiency: 75 %Wort Boil Time: 60 MinutesPre-Boil Amounts----------------Evaporation Rate: 15.00 Percent Per HourPre-Boil Wort Size: 12.94 GalPre-Boil Gravity: 1.058 SG 14.34 PlatoFormulas Used-------------Brewhouse Efficiency and Predicted Gravity based on Method #1, Potential Used.Final Gravity Calculation Based on Points.Hard Value of Sucrose applied. Kept in primary at 68-74F for 6 days, transferred to corny and primed with 2.5 oz candi sugar.Notes: Briess Carapils is a suitable substitute for Weyermann CaraFoam. If you don't have dark Munich, just increase the amount of light Munich and Aromatic by equal mounts to compensate. Caramel pils can be replaced by a very light crystal malt (10L). CaraRed can be replaced by CaraVienna or a light crystal (20-30L). Altermatively, just use CaraVienna in place of the Caramel pils and CaraRed (just add the two weights together). Simcoe can be replaced by Perle or Northern Brewer or Chinook. Amarillo, Cascade, and Centennial are irreplaceable!
