I've heard many respected brewers dislike this one.... can I ask is it the hop in any incarnation you hate or just where cascade is the big front hop? Do you like other citrusy hops?Just curiosity here, cascade always reminds me of my first brewsCascade

I dunno, just never liked it. It's not like I'll turn down a beer that's made with Cascade, but I don't use it myself. I much prefer the other citrusy hops, especially Amarillo.I've heard many respected brewers dislike this one.... can I ask is it the hop in any incarnation you hate or just where cascade is the big front hop? personally I like it more if it's reserved for flavor and aroma additions, I like it less as a bittering hop, Cascade that is.Yeah, that was what triggered it.I'm a huge fan of the C hops though.(I'd better be, seeing as where I work....)BrewBasser

Very interesting you said "sweet". My experience with Palisade, which was described as a Super-Willamette, was the same. The beer attenuated just fine... it was an ESB type brew that went from 1.056 to 1.012. But man did it taste sweet - not malty sweet either - just funky hop sweet. Never again.Willamette. Every beer I have ever brewed with it turns out overly sweet. I dont know why this is but it only happens with this hop.

Thats exactly what I get. Not my cup of tea, as I like my beers to be on the dry bitter side.Very interesting you said "sweet". hmm, I just did one that was willamette/EKG and turned out real nice - no sweetness over here just a really nice blend of hop flavour/aroma. Earthy.Thats exactly what I get. Not my cup of tea, as I like my beers to be on the dry bitter side.
