Awesome!

My electric rig arrived today.   Only had time to unbox it, run some pbw through it & rinse it.   So far, i'm pleased with the build.  Nothing seems cheap yet, except for one cap that is plastic that I think should be metal.  The recirculation pump is super quiet.  It has the "malt pipe" and it came with a hop spider.  At least i think that's what they used to call those stainless mesh cones you put the hops in for the boil.

This makes me realize that if i really stick with the hobby, I need to setup a sink in the basement.  It's such a pain to deal with cleaning these things in the kitchen or bathtub.

I think I posted a picture of my brew kitchen. Mine's in a nook off the laundry room. I have a 5 foot hose I can attach to the faucet which makes filling the unit and cleanup super easy.

The one thing I wish I had was a utility sink in the laundry room or garage.

same here.  For me it's vital. Also a floor drain.

Yeah, what I call my brew kitchen utilizes the laundry room utility sink. :)

A floor drain would be awesome but that's in a different area of the basement.

LOL nope BUT this weekend is a bachelor weekend for me so I will definitely be brewing on Sunday. I just need to stop and get some platic tubing for my kettle drain valve and I'm good to go...

Aaaaaand it didn’t happen today either. Left work a few hours early last night because my head was pounding and then proceeded to sleep until 3 this afternoon. This night shift is killing me, when I get back to days in a couple weeks I’ll have a lot more time to do things.

Done fermenting. I was going to get it out of primary tomorrow. Trying to decide if I want to secondary it or just keg it and start force carbonation.

Keg. There is no reason to do a secondary! More problems will come from it than it will solve.

In the keg and under CO2. Maybe I’ll have a glass tomorrow during the game.

It really has me thinking to be honest. Right now I have 2 - 15g Spike kettles and brewing under 5g is difficult.  I think part of my non-brewing issue is because the number of people I would share beer with has gone down and sitting on 5g of the same beer will take a while to go through.  A 3.5g batch could be fermented in a corny and then just moved to a serving/canning keg.  I have to see if I can still use my flex for a small batch.  I think I could make that work.

Weird .. scrolled threw the brewing section and saw this thread and I had this same thought in my head.  Maybe it is time to just bit the bullet and make the jump.

Right now I am leaning Anvil 6.5.  I like that I can convert it to 240 and use the outlets I already have.  Right now the idea of a small batch that I ferment in a keg and go right to cans is a nice.  Space is becoming a premium and getting rid of or at least moving the serving chest freezer would be wonderful.

The argument for the 10 is that it only takes more vertical space and you can brew either the 5 or 2.5 gallon batches, but I certainly respect the quest for simplicity.

That is a good point.  I may still keep my spike 15g kettles though so I would have a way to brew a bigger batch if needed.  I do not think I will get much on the used market for them if past sales are any indication.

Decisions ... decisions.
