so I did email keg factory about this to see what they say. it may have been damaged slightly during shipping.  I'd be perfectly fine taking it apart and replacing a part if that's what they offer up.

Supposed to get here tomorrow. Maybe I'll be next week.

Is there a cleaning procedure before use? Like are these covered in oil residue, bits of metal, or anything else from the machining process?

Mostly just run some grain through it, then toss the grain.  Or you could put it in the dishwasher....;)

gusso, what is your mash filtration method?  curious what kind of gap I should be setting to not clog up the works.  I just have a SS false bottom type of deal.

I thought you might.  I guess I'll just try something and make sure it looks like all kernals are cracked open.

So they said they are shipping me a new one and I'll have 30 days to send the other one back once I get it. All free of charge. Seems pretty reasonable. I'll probably just swap the hopper out so they other one shows up with a brand new hopper and hardware so maybe they can more easily salvage the functional parts.

That is reassuring. Seems like good CS to me.

yeah - I haven't received any notice that they've shipped the new one out.  they seem pretty slow to ship.  depending on how long this takes I may use the current one one time

new mill showed up today.  what's funny is it shipped from B3 :P

much better, no wobble. only concerning thing is the random nut I found in the box that doesn't appear to go to the mill (not the same size as other nuts I see) but it does make me wonder....

I sent that handle back with the damaged one.  I just wanted to make sure it wasn't part of the mill itself.  I was waiting for the thing to explode at high RPMs or something :P

I think you'd have to cut the hole a little bigger. Obviously would require new holes for mounting too.
If you do it let me know how it goes :D

To be honest, the dust hasn't really been an issue. I have thought about reusing the BC but your cardboard mod is right up my alley.

I was looking for something I could bust out in <10 mins while I heated the strike water.  minor mistake on my part not tightening the hand screws enough on my initial milling.  I was going along and I noticed the adjustment for the gap was moving while I milled!  so I milled that portion of the grain a second time after I rectified the situation.  efficiency was around 75%.  No issues with draining so I think I might tighten it up on my next go around and see what happens.  I think I had it at 0.035"??
