I'm actually interested in the smaller one, I just don't consume enough beer to justify making 5 gallons at a time any more. I need to look into smaller than 5 gallon dispensing systems, maybe smaller kegs, maybe something like mini kegs.

With the bigger one they have an adapter to make a 2 gallon batch. That's small enough, but you still can make a full 5 gallon batch for a party or your favorite beer, etc. Also, if you like to make bigger beers ever, you'll want that 16 lb grain capacity even to make smaller batches.

Ok. I've been researching these newer mini breweries, and the Anvil 10.5 looks slick. I have a remodel of the laundry room planned for when our ancient cat passes. There's a side area (where there's currently the litter box and a utility sink) that would be perfect for a mini brewery. I could use the 220 line for the dryer though I'd want to get a GFCI outlet. There's a window so could just use that to ventilate steam.

Actually pretty excited about this. Could brew a lot more in the winter for sure.

If I wasn't so invested in my DIY build I would go for one of these.  I cannot believe how high quality and inexpensive these things are now.  It's mindboggling.

I agree.  I am at the point of no turning back with my system and I am happy with it but for anyone starting out or upgrading these have to be on the list.

I didnt realize these systems had come so far and at that price point. I could buy that anvil 10.5 for less than the cost of retrofitting my current setup. Got me seriously thinking about it!

What are the drawbacks of these setups? I've definitely slowed down my consumption so a 5 gallon system is no problem.

BIAB/No-sparge has a small efficiency hit.  Not a huge deal in my mind.

The 120v options take a while to get to temp/boil.  I would look for a 240v option.

Other than that I can not think of much.

Yea that isnt much. People seem to report efficiency numbers across the board which is concerning though. Doing some quick reading it looks like most is user error related.

In my case I have 240v and I could modify things a bit to add a spare step since I've got kettles and a March pump I could integrate in if needed.

Dang. Tempting.

It is going to be my combined Christmas and anniversary (end of next month) gift so I may have my grubby paws on one soon.
