Had planned to brew this week, but now it looks like it's gonna be over 100F all week. I may or may not brew.

Anyone brewing this week?

I'm getting a Hefe in today. LHBS didn't have WLP380, so I went with Wyeast 3638.

If it was a normal July/August it would be different! But WTF is normal any more? I may try it with an early start. If I use the Grainfather I won't have to run a burner.

Nothing wrong with changing the play at the line of scrimmage.
If anything, it will let the starter settle out nicely, so you can decant more of the liquid and save more of the yeast from going down the drain.
What kind of beer are you going to make with said starter?

I'm actually thinking a festbier now, or may stick with the original plan of a 1.055 gold lager with a little munich 2124 yeast, magnum to bitter to 40 then a solid dose of Mt Hood in the finish.

Both sound pretty damned solid to me.
Although, considering how hot it sounds like the weather is where you are, perhaps the gold lager first, and then the festbier to follow? Just thinking out loud.

So the Hefe is doing nicely. Took a sample last night (4 days in the fermenter) and it was down to 1.020. Tasted awesome.

Once again, had plans to brew but it's gonna be in excess of 100F every day for the next week so it's been put off.

Taking Friday off to make a 3 day weekend. Got a flask of 1450 in the fridge since I did not get to it last weekend so I hope for and IPA on Friday and a Czech Lager Sunday.

Weissbier this afternoon. Festbier tomorrow. God finally turned down the blow-torch so it should only be excruciatingly hot in the garage instead of totally freaking unbearably hot.
