Cool, that is good news.

They have it in house in bulk and just need to repackage it.

WHOO HOO! Thanks Denny. I'll be looking for it. If anyone finds a reseller out there anywhere, please post.

Got a return email from my LHBS today that they're going to look into getting some.

Here's the response from my LHBS:

George -

We just contacted both Wyeast and BrewCraft, and both said they will not be selling it to retailers. The story we were given is that it is just not conducive for home brewers. It only takes 5g of the stuff for a 1 BBL batch, so breaking it down for brewers would be awfully hard. If I hear more I'll definitely reach out to you, but from what I can tell we won't be able to get it.

Cheers!
Bryan

Here's the response from my LHBS:

That is not what Brewcraft told me.  I know Wyeast won't, but Brewcraft is...according to my contacts there.

It's possible that the news just hasn't been promulgated to sales yet.

I'll be honest... I think the bags I bought from iBrew were 50g packs so I bought two since they were coming across the Pacific. Those 100g will last me A LONG time plus Chils sent me his stash because he concluded that BTB wasn't doing anything for him. So if I needed to order it from iBrew again, it would not kill me. I'd love to see it available here but as long as I can get it... it's fine.

I think that's possible.  I know they won't have it repackaged for a couple weeks.  I've been talking to a product manager there.

George, If'n you like, I'll split what I have left of the package I got from the group buy, and send you half. I don't brew in enough volume to need all of it.

Here's the response from my LHBS:

Whoever gave your LHBS that response didn't talk to the right person.  Here's the word from the top at Brewcraft....

"We’re going to be offering it in 1OZ, 1LB, and 55LB sizes, and they should be available for stores to place on their orders in within two weeks. "

Yeah....I'm not gonna live that long.  Although the idea might be that the LHBS or somebody like Morebeer buys that and repackages it.

10 month old porter made with brewtan-b and heavily hopped with chinook still has hop aroma and flavor.  beer is still very good.

I'm still scared to retry brewtanb. I had a few bad/weird batches about a year ago when I started using it. But I'm not 100% sure it was the brewtanb. I've changed some other things and my beers are coming out great. When I get a stock pile of beer going later this fall I will give it a try again on a 5gal batch.
