yep, me too. i always seem to get better performance out of the second and third generationI'm so cheap that I re-use dry yeast.
Why did dry yeasts get so much more expensive?

I have an IPA sitting on second generation S05 and I may just use the third generation for a Porter. It's just so easy to repitch and works so well with my brew schedule that it's hard to pass up.yep, me too. i always seem to get better performance out of the second and third generation

Last time I bought dry yeast it was under $1 per pack. It's been a long time.

are you referring to Steinbarts ??I just bought 4 packs of S05 at my LHBS for $1.95/per. Guess they haven't gotten the news yet.
