Beauty of a beer for the Cubs. We were at Saturday's "Cub" game in Miami = fantastic. Nothing beats a 24oz can of Pacifico Lager for $14

Tapped my first ever attempt at a dunkel last night.   Not clear yet, but oh so tasty...

Yeah, looks good. I waited far too long to make one but there are plans for one now with this Omega Bayern/Augustiner yeast. Probably a couple weeks out on that beer.

2206 for this one.   Very clean profile.

The first Dunkel I made was with 2352 which was one of Wyeast's seasonal strains and supposedly Augustiner's yeast. When I retired that yeast and learned that I couldn't get it anymore, I was bummed. Someone mentioned Omega's Bayern being the same yeast and the first beer I've made with it (a pilsner) is in a keg and I believe the strains are the same. The yeast profile adds a delicious character to the beer. It's great for things like pils, helles, American premium, etc. but it can also work well in a Vienna, dunkel, festbier, bock, etc. It might be moving up the list to become my favorite lager yeast!

Ken, I know right? With non crystal beers I always hit better numbers. I just dialed down my grain bill on a Golden that's currently lagering for that very reason and I came in at 1.050. I'm learning....

Just tapped this today- my tribute to Duval; didn't bother to clarify it. Like the target beer- its deceptively smooth at 9%. I'm calling it "Doofus", because after a couple, well- there you go.

not the best pic but that little bump of head sticking over the top of the glass is the beer equivalent to "side boob".
