Thanks Schwanz for inspiring me to enter. I sent two beers off to the 22nd Spirit of Free Beer. One gold medal and my Alt beer scored well (36.5) but didn't place. I think it needed to be a bit more bitter but I haven't seen the score sheets yet.

Dang! They already emailed me the score sheets. They were filled out pretty well by ranked judges. Nicely run comp.

Just entered the Bluegrass Cup in Kentucky. Just a single IPA. I had one that turned out really good that I would like some feedback on. The last time I made this beer it scored a 37 but didn't place. I made a few tweaks so we will see this time.

Bluebonnet Brew-Off usually gets over a thousand entries I think.  I had a parti-gyle barley wine and ordinary bitter get silver and silver a few years ago.  They are in March, so file it away for next year.

Gonna enter the kolsch in a few more. It's damn good. I don't understand how the US open judges knocked it so badly. I tried a bottle last night and it's damn near perfect.

Didn't get scoresheets yet. But on the site it said 24.5! I've had kolsch from Germany. I've had several american brewed classic examples and not to toot my own horn, but mine is ####ing good. I've not had a contaminated bottle in years either. So I don't get it.

Next batch. I only have a few bottles left of this one that need to go out to comps. I'm brewing it again on Monday.

Doh, I thought you meant a trade. Well, I hope not. That would make my stout awfully strange looking.

Dang that sucks. A guy in my club had a really good German Pils, I mean crystal clear no off flavors really clean beer and got a 27. That thing was about perfect, not sure what they have going on there.

Nice! Were those bottled at the same time as the ones for the us open?
