I'd definitely put a sterile filter in the line, but otherwise it's a perfectly logical idea.

Yep, by standard aeration filter, I meant the sterile one that you would get with one of the kits you have seen... Beyond that, air is air... I love to use the red o2 tanks when I have them, but HD is a bit far from me, and sometimes I just have to do with what I have on hand as I can't shake up 11 gallons. This has worked pretty well for me.

Before we laugh my good friends, I have been doing this for a while. My last comp entry yield me 5 ribbons. I only entered 5 beers in a 400 entry comp...

Yeah, but you are in TX. 392 of the entries were light lagers and CAPs! J/K :) Seriously congrats on your ribbons and great beer!
