No, you have to have an internet connection. And if I have a LAN, why do I need to store anything in dropbox?

There is an option that you can click on dropbox to update through a local network.  You may be right in that it may still require an internet connection but it may not.

MTN quit being contrarian!!!!!

I'm really liking some of the tools that were added to the app, strike water temp etc. I can't wait to use is this weekend.

C'mon dude. To move data to a server on the internet, you need an internet connection. But you're missing the point. I don't want or need my recipes to be in "the cloud". They're just fine right where they are on my home server. I just would like a way to access them from my tablet or phone.

Could you not change your Documents Directory to a mapped shared drive on your home network?

Getting to the recipe files isn't the problem. Certainly I can share files over the network. The problem is that there is no brewing package that includes an Android client so that I can enter data while I'm brewing. I could do it with my laptop but I don't really like having the laptop in the brewery with all the dust and water and potential for Bad Things™ to happen.

Glad that I don't mind using the "cloud". Actually I'm thinking of just having the recipes on my iPhone since this app is really good. Of course, I don't have that many recipes compared to many of the guys here.

You'll mind it the first time you can't get to your recipes when you want to brew.

I have a tablet and a good case. That's why I want to use it for brewing.

Microsoft surface pro! That should work since it can run all the legacy programs and see your NAS

I already have the tablet and it was only $400. I just want a way to use it to brew. I'm not going going to buy a Windows tablet. I'd rather keep doing what I'm doing.

How about using remote desktop or VPN to run the software on the laptop from the tablet. I've never tried it, so I don't know how practical it is, but I know there are people doing it with other software.

That's a possibility. Wouldn't need VPN but remote desktop like VNC might work if they have an Android client.ETA: httpss://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realvnc.viewer.android&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5yZWFsdm5jLnZpZXdlci5hbmRyb2lkIl0.
