So my LHBS posted something about a growler saver a while ago on their facebook. I took a look at it and it seems pretty damn cool. Basically it's a special cap you can put on your growler that will keep the beer carbonated (or recarbonate it if needed).

Seems like a cool idea and it's being made by some guy in my area...i might have to pick one of these bad boys up.

I've seen the this kickstarter before.  I'll let someone else trust the PRV on a growler.

I thought a growler was a once serving device.  Not sure I have many times where I would need something like this.

i often use a carbonator cap with a 2L.  works pretty well and probably wouldn't kill me if it exploded.

I use them all the time and I've stored beer in them for quite some time with no ill effects. Just gotta keep the light out.

yea i was kinda thinking about that too...im curious how much pressure they'd be putting into the growler...i'd assume around 12psi...guess we'll see what happens when they're mass produced

I have no problem with 20-30 psi in a PET bottle, but not in a glass growler.

I have carbed up to 3.5 volumes in Growlers, they are rated for bottle conditioning

The bottle isn't my concern. Those friggin CO2 things are like grenades if they aren't used correctly. I've had them blow up QD's and blow up their plastic housing. Not fun. Someone blew one up that was using one of mine and the shrapnel left a nice gash in his arm.

I'd shart myself if that happened

The other part of this is why the hell wouldn't they make a spout for a tap and turn it into a mini keg??? You could still have the bleeder valve on there.

Hell just make a refillable minikeg.  Hamms made one a long time ago (well, refillable - don't remember).  Nice little, I would guess a gallon, AL keg that sat on its' side with a tap on it.  That's about all I remember but it was sweet.  You could pull a half glass and no one ever knew.  My dad quit getting them after a few were in the extra fridge - didn't hold enough in his opinion.  I agreed but withheld my opinion at the time.  Bet you could have used it for Real Ale too.

Yep.  Great for camping, fishing, etc.
