I really dig special b, but it has such a strong caramel flavor, I think it'd be difficult to use just for color. Depending on what you were making, I'd probably use a tiny bit of debittered chocolate for color only. Not to hijack but does anybody else use Special B for color only?

I use Special-B in quite a few beers, albeit in small amounts. I've used it in Nut Brown ales for added complexity with pretty good success. For coloring I would use a debittered chocolate or debittered black malt or add these later during the mash or at beginning of my sparge. Not to hijack but does anybody else use Special B for color only?
