I stand by my assessment of Rochefort 10 vs Westy 12 and welcome any other hair splitting assessment of the difference between these two FANTASTICALLY complex ales......but this MAY well be served by another thread.....

I love Rochefort 10, other Belgians worth trying are anything from De Dolle(Bos Keun and Oerbier are my favorites), Duvel, Gulden Drak among others. For sours add Cuvee de Jacobins Rogue to the Flanders list, Monk's Cafe is an ok entry level sour.

Well, let me settle the Westy vs Rochefort for this thread....If you want to get a good feel for the Westy (it is really hard to get), grab some St. Bernardus ABT 12 and call it a day. You would think that this would be a really easy question to answer, but I keep going to type something and then erasing it. So hard to list my favorites.

I had a bottle of Monk's a couple weeks ago that had zero sourness to it. I don't know if they changed the recipe or something, but it seemed really odd...

Interesting to see how often Delirium Tremens is mentioned.....while it is by NO means a bad beer, I personally find it to be a bit sweet and lacking complexity when I compare it to other Belgian Tripels.

I have friends who do beer advocate trading a lot, and I get in on some pretty awesome tastings. Last month I got to taste firestone walker 11,12,13,14,and 15 all in a row.

I've actually had a few bad bottled of Delirium Tremens that fit your description, but most bottles are mouth-fillingly complex.

Well, I really wanted to get Rodenbach grand cru and 3 philosophers but I couldn't. Here is what I will be drinking to over the course of the next 3 or 4 days with the wife.httpss://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-HXy7X0QhnpQ/T9uHb7YB6cI/AAAAAAAAAlw/RFMLcFIUiMA/w614-h459-k/Beer.JPG
