What I think would be more beneficial would be the top 3 beers in the world for each BJCP style.

Very good idea. 1A - Light American Lager.....GO!

imho, that one tastes much better in teh caribbean than it does stateside.

The weather, sand, boobies and bikinis may have affected my tastebuds as well.

It would be interesting to see people list why they recommend each beer.

If it is anything like wine, I am influenced by the setting when I had it. One of my favorite everyday wines is Jordan because I had it on the first date that I had with my wife.

As stated before I am not into big impy stouts. I like drinkable beers. Beers that I can have 2 or 3 and still function and not feel like a just tried to win a maple syrup chugging contest. That is not to say that I don't enjoy a big beer on occasion. IMO, the beer would make you want to have another without question. My top would be as follows. I haven't had as much exposure as I would like though, so my list is short.SNPA from the can - very tasty and drinkable. My go to beer.Delirium Tremens - I love the flavor and effervescence.Bells 2 hearted ale - very well balanced hop/mouth feel and not over the top.Cigar City - Jai Ali IPA, I love it fresh from the brewery and I buy it on draft because it's local and available, but overall an above average IPA.Nothing I have bought/tried lately has really wowed me though.Cheers,RichI try and taste a new beer every month

Hofbrau Original Helles and Hofbrau Oktoberfest are excellent. Also, MTN beat me to it but Paulaner Oktoberfest is also dynamite. Ayinger Bavarian Lager, Primator Premium Lager and New Glarus Two Women also come to mind.

Took a BJCP prep class a while back and we purchased a LOT of beer to taste through to learn the styles (at least that was what we told ourselves).....tasted a lot of very good to excellent beer, and a lot of travel weary stuff, but some of the beers were just SPECIAL, including (in no particular order): Dab (fresh in a can) Fuller's ESB Gulden Draak Einbecker Mai Ur-Bock Schneider Aventinus Others that were special, but not during the class: Rochefort 10 (beat Westy 12 in a blinded head-to-head tasting) Leipziger Gose De Cam Oude Geueze, Mega Blend, and Oude Kriek (in no particular order) FRESH Schlenkerla Marzen and UrBockSorry that it is more than 10.....

Reading the posts of others here, I find that I missed a favorite style.....a Flanders Red tasting is loads of fun......Rodenbach Grand CruDuchesse de BourgognePetrus Oud BruinAny other favorites out there??By your reference to wine and Jordan I believe we may have similar palates......lay in some of these and other Flanders Red Ales invite some friends over and make some Carbonnades Flamades (fancy assed name for Flemmish beef stew) and you are well on the way to a "legendary" event.....and you may well decide to allocate fermenter space for YEARS to try your hand at brewing the Flanders Red style.....I am not there yet, but I can see it from here.....
