Hmmmmm, guess I called it the wrong name. It looks like a normal stir bar, but has a ring around the middle.

I am thinking my homemade stirplate is the culprit, I need to look at getting stronger magnetsYep, tht looks like what I'm using. Maybe my jugs have flattter bottoms t han normal ( boy, is that a set up for around here?). Maybe my new stir plate has a stronger magnet. I got the stir plate and bar at the same time so I can't really say which made the difference.

I use glass, 1 gallon cider jugs on a stir plate. My 2000 ml flash wasn't large enough for what I wanted to.Try a pair of o-rings on the outer edges of the stir bar shown.mine are like this

If you have some with flat bottoms, that'll work but they're hard to find.I have 3 of them that would beg to differ.

They're not completely flat. They have a slight hump in them.If you have some with flat bottoms, that'll work but they're hard to find.
