It is neat .. but the price is not .. $300!

I have no frame of reference. How much is a Love (or whatever controller you use), how much time time do you spend on the A/C mod and dialing in the unit, re: keeping it from feezing up?Beacheta: reading the site- freeze ups are eliminated. saving the hassle of warming the space to defrost and then getting the space cooled back down. Doesn't that equate to time and $'s also?

The love controller ranges, but with the probes I've choosen (10 ft cord with stainless casing), I believe mine came out to a total cost of around $80 for each one (I have two sets for each chamber of the walk-in cooler).I bought an analog air conditioner, 8k btu, for around $200 (this cost would be the same regardless). As for time, time is all I have right now. Haha.Additional cost - I did purchase two computer fans and an AC transformer to run them, maybe around $30 total cost.Once I get this set up, which may just be settling for the higher temp, or adjusting the settings as necessary, I won't have to fiddle around with it too much. That is definitely worth the cost savings over that controller for me, but that is because I am on a budget (and I went over the budget as is, to the chagrin of my wife).Definitely interesting technology, just too expensive for me.

Ranco controller was 50 bucks .. AC I had. Maybe an hour to modify it. I use my for fermentation so it never goes below 45.Don't get me wrong, it is neat and I would love to have one but 300 vs under 75 is a big difference for me.

With it, you can transform a highly-insulated room into a walk-in cooler

So I still have to have a highly-insulated room? :P

Haha. The price for the love controllers has been rising significantly over the last few years. I used to be able to get the TS controller with pvc jacketed probe for $49 plus shipping, now they want nearly twice that for the same unit. I had to change to the TS2, which don't come with probes - but that was actually a benefit for me for the walk-in, as I needed longer probes, and ones jacked in stainless, rather than the pvc.I still don't really know what the difference between the TS and TS2 models are, as they function exactly the same for me, and only have cosmetic differences to my eyes.
