I pour my wort/hops through a strainer on top of yeast into ferment bucket, stirnsplash vigorously. Fermentation has never been a problem.
How do you oxygenate?

I shake the carboys. Never had one break and fermentation seems fine. For those who use oxygen stones, have you seen improved results in the finished product when switching from the shake or stir method?

I stir like hell when I'm cooling (once it's down under 100 df) and then dump through a funnel into the carboy. Never had any troubles.Side note: does anyone remember what OF's results were when he intentionally aerated hot wort? I believe he used a stone and O2 tank while the wort was up around 180 df.....

You can get the disposable tanks from HD or Lowe's (and probably most other hardware stores). They'll be right next to the plumbers propane/MAPP gas tanks. It's a little red tank. I've enver had a problem finding them. I just bought two tonight, $8/each.Where do you all get your oxygen tanks from? I've heard people say home despot, but I've never seen them there.
