Mashed in on an Imperial IPA this morning. Going big this time SG should be around 1.088 and shooting for 125 IBU. Big combination of hops. Should be a good one.

On the plus side, I experimented with crushing the grains a bit finer this time and pulled off 89% efficiency. I'm not one to get excited about efficiency, but I was pretty amazed at the increase (I usually only get about 78%).

What's the saying? crush until you are scared? :( Sorry about the burn, ouch...

Man, I am still waiting to brew because of this leaking fermenter/better bottle fiasco with the LHBS. They've ordered me a replacement, should be in any day now but come on guys... I've got competitions to win here and you're holding me up!

My RIS from Friday night finally stopped blowing foam Monday night. I took a SG reading and it was down to 1.050 and still very active. I wonder where it will stop.

No brewing this weekend. But the ChefLamont laboratory, bar, and grill has been in full swing with some new fermenter mods. Will probably be posting results of experimentation soon.

Brewed a Cream Ale yesterday with both ale and lager yeasts (US-05 & US-23). Hit my OG and it's taken off this morning! Looking forward to this one!

Brewed an English Pale Ale last night and pitched my starter of 1335 right into the wort. I finished up chilling around 0130 and the starter was still bubbling so I figured in it goes. All went well, hit volumes and gravities. 1.052. Admiral and Fuggles. Can't wait to see what this 1335 does. Cheers all.

Mashing my first brew on the eHERMS right now. Making my first batch of CNEPA. One of the connections on my pump popped off a few minutes into the mash and I lost maybe 1/2 gallon of mash liquid. Kind of a bummer but I was on my way out of the room when it happened. 5 seconds later and the entire mash would've been on the floor. :DI definitely missed seeing that super clear wort that you get when you have a recirc system. I've been having chill haze problems recently, hopefully the recirc'ing will help clear up that problem (haha, "clear" up...:D).

Nice pics!I finally got to brewing this week. It felt good. I did a big IPA with some honey and pacific ale yeast. I kept feeding my yeast while I was waiting for my equipment to arrive, so I pitched a huge starter and she took right off. This ones been blowing off yeast for 3 days solid now. I'm hoping to get brewing some big Belgian type stuff next .

same deal with me on saturday. I put 9oz of hops into my 5 gallon AIPA. Unfortunately I didn't account for loss from absorption so I ended up with a little less than 5 gal. :D
