Looks like a science lab next to my medieval methods!

Much simpler than how I was brewing. In the end all that matters for anyone is to make good beer. Looking forward to breaking that 2 year drought.

Well, I went to buy the GrainFather but, they were out of stock and the other retailers are 100+ more.

Checked in with More Beer and they had the Brewzilla 9 gallon on sale for 349.00 as a one day deal.

Pulled that trigger for sure.

Ordered a SNPA clone kit.

 

I was in Columbus, GA this morning and stopped by the local brew store. My laundry room was bigger than the store front. Prices were high as a cat's back too. Kits were 45-60.00 each.

Nice! Did you get the 110 or 220 version. Curious on your thoughts, for the price I was very pleased with the product.

I went with the 110 for the simple reason that getting an electrician out to find space in the box for 220 and run the line would be super expensive since it would tie the guy up for the best part of a full day.

Our breaker box is slap full so, some stuff would have to be moved around to make it work.

 

I won't notice the extra time it takes to get to full boil. I'm only going 5 gallon batches, anyway.

Yeah, that's what I said.  I was wrong...at least for me.  After about 4 batches on the 110 unit, I sprung for the 220 and an electrician.

Even though I still use old time gear, I'll occasionally look at how fast an electric unit can get 7 gallons of wort to boil. Looking at the info above, 120 would be too slow for my liking.

I have an excel sheet if anyone wants it where you enter voltage, wattage, volume and starting Temps and it gives a good approximation of time. I think it is from 10+ years ago in the NB forum but still works.

Hoppy Citra blonde in the fermenter. Hit my volumes but not gravity. Need to make some tweaks in the crush and stir the mash a couple more times but the unit itself worked perfectly.

Fermentation is going nuts so at least I did something right . Planning some kind of lager, this weekend. I plan on tweaking my crush and leaving off the top plate so I can stir the mash easier. Hopefully that will bump up the efficiency.

If you a 120 VAC outlet on a second breaker, get a hotrod from brewhardware.com. It will reduce the ramp time and make your brew day much easier.

Reduced ramp time is the best

I’m about to add an external calandria at work to take my ramp times down from like an hour and a half+ to like as soon as I’m kettle full I am boiling
