Anyone used it or heard of it? It's dried sauvignon grape powder. Supposedly loaded with thiols for fruity brews. I got an email for it from Michigan Hop Alliance. Maybe I'll get some and couple it with one of those Omega yeasts that specialize in thiols.

I've had a commercial beer made with it.  It was good.

Lol... I have not brewed in a year but I bought enough phantasm for three batches today and the yeast to go with it... Now I have to brew!

Which yeast, cosmic punch?
I see there's now a few "thiol" yeasts.

Star party and helio grazer. I also got saaz to add to the mash. I guess saaz and cascade have thiols that work great with this stuff...

this is the one that I've had from stoneface.

IPA WITH PHANTASM

IPA featuring Cosmic Punch yeast and Phantasm induce massive tropical, juicy character. Notes of bright passionfruit and sweet white grape throughout.

IPA - 7.2%

Star party is based on Chico and I think helio grazer is like cosmic punch on steroids.

I have tons of saaz and cascade. No more hop orders, please! I might get a pound of the Phantasm from Michigan Hops and an appropriate yeast.

I would like to try the same recipe with both yeasts to see the differences.

I'll definitely mash hop way heavier the next time I use one of those yeasts. I only went an ounce or 2 last time.

I'm all set. I ordered Helio Gazer, some grain, and Starsan from Ritebrew. Also, one pound of Phantasm from Michigan Hop Alliance.

Got a lb. in the fridge.  Listen to the latest Experimental Brewing.  I talk to one of the guys who came up with it. He recommends using it in the whirlpool.  The same interview talks to R&D from Omega and YCH about the synergy between yeast, hops, and Phantasm.  A big point is that the malt you use plays a large part in thiol development.

First, I read to use it during fermentation. Then I saw WP. On a podcast I listened to today, they recommended to use it in the mash. It'll be a few weeks before I brew with it, so I'll keep checking on what others are doing.

The podcast I heard today said pilsner malt seems to work well.

I'm going with what the guy who invented it says. Also, all 3 in the interview recommended good craft malt.

I read whirlpool so that is what I was planning on going with. I will give that pod a listen and may have to get some craft malt if it makes the difference.

Some interesting information

https://beerandbrewi...t-and-phantasm/

You can skip the first 17-18 minutes if you listen to the podcast. Apparently this brewer uses way less hops with the Phantasm.

The guy in the podcast is affiliated with Phantasm as well.
