So, we have oatmeal stout but not oatmeal porter as much as I can tell.  My thought is take Denny's BVIP and bring it down to about 1.065 then replace 2 pounds of base grain with 1# flaked oats and 1# malted oats.  I am also considering throwing in a cinammon stick or two along with a couple vanilla beans to age on.   Thoughts .. anything I am overlooking?

BVIP for those that do not know it

I think this looks great.  I don't have D's recipe here but I've made it enough times to tell you I love it.  I can imagine the mouthfeel and texture?  would be off the charts with your oat additions.

So I'll send you a couple PET's of my 3711 "MangoSaic Saisonic" and you can return them filled with your porter.  Deal?

How about I just send some cans of porter back with the bottles. That canner needs a run.

Drez, did you brew this? Final grain bill? Crazy you posted this. I have just been going through all my ingredients and trying to decide what to brew. I asked the wife to list 3 styles of beer that I should brew to fill up the taps. One was a porter so I asked BVIP? She said sure but drop the BVI, haha. I told her I had a bunch of flaked oats and barley and she was sold. So I head to the recipe forum and this is what I find right on top.

I have not brewed it yet.  I was waiting on fresh cinnamon but that order is delayed.  I was planning on Ruthless Rye this week with 1450 but maybe I will push that seeing I have lots of hops on tap and give this one a go.  I have a recipe and I will post it latter.  No GNO's but I did get a third type of oat to try.

I got it to try in my NEIPAs but figured why not try here too.

I hope maybe Thursday or Friday for this. I have to step up the 1450 first.

Very interesting, looks like a good malt.

I'm shooting for Friday. I'm picking up an order Thursday from the LHBS. I'm thinking either straight S04 or S09?

I think you know what I will say to that!

Really looking forward to trying that oat malt in a hop forward beer.

Just crashed some yeast but never got around to setting up to brew tomorrow.  It's supposed to rain Saturday so I'll probably wait till then.  Some masa tamal showed up a few days ago so a sort of summer lawnmower beer with a twist
