I think my ability to detect hops is way down. I can taste it but it's not extreme.

now that I've kegged this and I'm not sucking up a little bit of yeast/trub in every pour it tastes better than before and the clarity is improving which is making it look more red.
taste wise it's kind of a combination of an alt, APA and red ale.

had some friends over yesterday and out of my three offerings (pliny the similar, smokey brown ale, and this red ranger ale) this beer was preferred. I'll openly admit that it's probably not quite my favorite of the three but I'm a little surprised that folks didn't go for the big IPA.

LOL! nothing wrong with it! I just find most people are looking for big IPAs these days.
