That is def true - those lists aren't compiled with the idea if you had to drink one beer what would it be. I'm honestly not sure what the criteria of those lists is...

If you think about it, it makes sense. People who have no idea about styles and brewing would naturally think the beer with the most "flavor" would be the "best". RIS and IIPA are generally the most flavor packed styles, which is why they dominate those lists.

I would argue that most Lambics are more "flavorful" meaning lots of different flavors, than RIS.MolBasser

My favorite style is Rauchbier, easily. Smoked beer has a rustic quality that I love, and I get cravings for it.

Yeah I agree with this.

dry stout!! https://www.brews-br...tyle_emoticons/default/headbang.gif https://www.brews-br...tyle_emoticons/default/headbang.gif :cheers:I too loooooove a nice hoppy brew...or really just about any brew but the one I have made more than any is this one. I find the dark coffee and malty notes delicious, and it's so crisp and dry that it is really quite refreshing and when you need a beer to  it fits the bill, same as when you just want a glass after work or in between IPAs or... etc. etc.

True - if those guys really wanted to show off they'd be voting for obscure Belgian beers with all kinds of funk from the yeast. While I don't always like them more I agree they are much more interesting.

In a way I kinda get the RIS thing. I might have to vote for that because if I want something really special, to me there is nothing better than an RIS, barleywine, or similar BIG aged beers. Ones aged on wood are the absolute top. So those would be my best most favoritest ones. (For example, the best beer I have had in recent memory is goose island's bourbon county stout.)However, neither my liver nor my wallet can withstand those for daily drinkers. So for the day to day, it is a toss-up between the APA/IPAs and a well made cream ale.

My mood dictates which style of beer is my favorite at the moment. But if I had to pick just one style that I would reach for more than any other, it would be an IPA. There's nothing quite so refreshing as a well-made IPA. My palate can get quickly sated from a malt-forward beer, as delicious as it may be. But I'm always ready for another IPA.

Those BA lists are complete BS. It's a bunch of guys trying to show whose e-penis is larger by saying how awesome some "xTreme" beer is. High gravity does not always equal good.

Exactly. A 50-point "world class" example of a session beer wouldn't likely do well on BA. It has to be something rare and extreme to get any notice over on those type of boards. Complete BS.Here's to great session beers!!If I had to pick one style, I'd probably say something in the English bitter family. Easy drinking. Nice toasty malt character, some hop character, some yeast character. A lot of brewers find bitters "boring." Having judged that style in homebrew competitions on more than one occasion - I have to agree that a lot of examples are kind of boring, or just plain bad. But, a well brewed, well cared for version can be awesome.I'm a fairly "seasonal" drinker, so my beer choices tend to change with the seasons.

Saison. Another style that's growing on me lately is mild. But, ultimately, what I really like is variety.
