I have to think a short boil must do something though. I'd at least want to boil for 10 mins or something.

Stop thinking, Morty. Just let it happen...

I'm jettisoning all other brewing plans to pursue 1hr AG batches.
The really surprising thing, to me, isn't that he got IBU out of the dry hops but that he got 80 IBU with only 10 oz. I always imagined that a heavy handed dry hop might add 10-20 IBU, but nothing like that. Throw 5oz in a APA and get 40IBU? That's mindblowing.

why? Bringing the wort to 170 will pasteurize it. A rolling boil supposedly coagulates proteins, but in a NEIPA that wouldn't matter much. Not so sure how it would be for other styles aesthetically, but it appears that other than you may not need to boil.

I was talking in general - if the only effect is clarity loss it makes sense for an NEIPA and maybe a wheat beer and maybe some other styles I'm not thinking of. but for a lot of stuff I'm looking for some clarity and I think no boil might cause an issue there.

Probably worth it to see if it really does affect clarity.

The only thing keeping me from doing this is in the article he said that the beer did not have the aroma or flavor you would expect from a beer dryhopped so much. Also, how will I add brewtan if I do not boil

That's strange. I don't see why the aroma would be affected.

And strangely it oxidized faster too.

30 minute mash and 30 minute boil. I think I could have shaved some time off it too.
