I also have something that says carafa III on it but I'm not sure if it's actually the dehusked type or not.

so just to be safe something like chocolate malt should have husks right? I'm going to do a side by side.

i compared it to chocolate malt and I couldn't tell the difference so I decided to use the chocolate wheat. even if there is a tiny bit of roast I don't think it will be an issue for me.

I remember listening to an English brewer on the BN give an ESB recipe and it called for a pinch of roasted barley for color so I think either way you are good.
I think a little RB in pale ales is actually pretty good. adds a little something in the background.

Worked good for me here. All I got from it was color from what I remember.

yeah. I'm thinking since chocolate wheat is even milder than RB that I'll be okay at 3 oz in a 10 gallon batch.
just an update to the recipe though... I had less GP than I thought so I used 14 lbs of GP and 5.5 lbs of CMC US Pale Ale. Now I'm nearly out of Pale Ale too. I do have 10 lbs of optic but I'm also completely out of MO. I guess I should get in on a grain group buy
